Founded in 1985, the company’s mammoth maritime undertakings have included installation of offshore gas pipelines, disassembly of oil rig sections, and removal of litter and microplastics from rivers – all using specialist vessels and equipment, as you will see in each video.
The initial aim with this UK English voice-over was to be “professional, convincing and strong” and the first few takes set about conveying this depth and gravitas.
However, in the end, it was decided that the performance should be lighter in delivery – which actually made more sense, when you consider what light work the company makes from projects, thanks to its large fleet of heavy machinery.
The second corporate video voice-over (left) for Allseas came along a few months later.
The brief for this comparatively short video was largely the same: to deliver a high quality read in the same style as the first video. Although the script was rather short for a corporate video voice-over, around half a dozen takes were provided to give the video producer and end client some choice.
Some of these takes included greater emphasis on the words “engineers” and “pioneers”, as they presented an opportunity to create some rhythm and rhyme within the short message. However, in the end, the client selected one of the reads that took a more straightforward approach to exploring the text.
Do you work in heavy industry, or know someone who does? Perhaps they would benefit from this kind of read for their next corporate video. Simply email me using the address bottom right, or get in touch via the contact button below.
